Doing The Will Of God

Matthew 26:39: And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Even Jesus fell on His face before His Father. Consider who this is that fell on His face before His Father. He is the One who had never sinned. He had always obeyed His Father and been humble before Him. How much more do we who are rebellious sinners need to fall on our face before God? We should learn too from these who fell on their faces before God and before Jesus.

Genesis 17:3: And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, . . .

Joshua 5:14: And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

Luke 5:12: And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

Luke 17:16: And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

On our faces before God is a wonderful place to worship Him, to pray to Him, to hear from Him, to ask Him for His will and to give Him thanks. On our faces before God should be a heart attitude more than it is a physical posture. It is a position of submission, faith and commitment. It is a place where Satan can do us no harm, a place of safety.

James 4:7: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Matthew 6:10b: . . . Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 12:50: For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

John 5:30: I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 7:17: If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

Ephesians 6:6: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Hebrews 13:20: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

James 4:15: For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

1 John 2:17: And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Philippians 2:12: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

1 Thessalonians 5:18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
